A high end phono preamp with its own power supply

Three transformers, two of them for isolation

A cartridge delivers only a few millivolts, often less. Any unrest from the power supply gets amplified with it. The Signature power supply feeds the preamp through three transformers, two of which work as isolation transformers. Its board carries film and Oscon capacitors in a configuration matched to the preamp stage. You hear a quieter background, more space between instruments and fine details that would otherwise get lost.

Matched to your cartridge

Adjustable for MM and MC

For MM cartridges you choose one of four input capacitance settings, for MC cartridges the input impedance between 25 Ω and 47 kΩ in 50 steps. This lets you match the preamp to almost any cartridge. With high quality MC cartridges in particular, the right impedance decides whether the music sounds open and relaxed.

The Stateline Phono 2 Signature is a high end phono preamp for turntables with MM or MC cartridges. It combines the preamp stage of the Stateline Phono 2 with a dedicated power supply built solely to feed the preamp. This keeps the very small signal of your cartridge free from mains interference.

What makes the Signature version

The Signature power supply uses three transformers, two of them as isolation transformers. Its board carries film and Oscon capacitors, plus SteinMusic InLine Silver to reduce magnetic distortion. Like the preamp stage, this board is fully coated with our Maestro lacquer.

Which system it is for

The Signature version is for listeners whose system is quiet and resolving enough to reveal differences in the power supply. If you use a high quality MC cartridge, you benefit in particular from the adjustable input impedance and the quiet background.

What is the difference to the Stateline Phono 2?

The preamp stage is the same. The Signature version additionally works with the Stateline Phono 2 Signature power supply, which feeds the preamp through three transformers. If you already own a Phono 2, you can add the power supply separately.

Is the extra cost over the Phono 2 worth it?

That depends on your system. The quieter and more resolving the rest of your chain, the more clearly you will hear what the power supply changes. You can also start with the Phono 2 and add the power supply later. You have a 30-day return period to compare at home.

Will the Phono 2 Signature work with my cartridge?

Very likely. It is designed for MM and MC cartridges. For MM you choose between 0, 82, 150 and 232 pF, for MC you set the impedance between 25 Ω and 47 kΩ in 50 steps. If you are unsure, we are happy to advise you.
