A horn loudspeaker without horn sound

The horn connects the movement of the diaphragm with the air in the room. Fine details remain audible, even at low volume. Our aim was not higher efficiency, but a calm, natural tone. That is why we do without compression drivers and match horn and driver precisely.

Below the horn, an open baffle does its work. Without a cabinet, the typical box sound disappears, and voices and instruments detach from the loudspeaker.

Bass that adapts to your room

Eight 10-inch bass drivers work in each loudspeaker, four on each side of the cabinet. The large diaphragm area only needs to move a little and stays within its linear range. The bass sounds clean and deep, without booming.

A DSP with 1500 watts controls the bass and adapts it to your listening room. Your amplifier only handles the passive section and can be chosen freely by sound.

The drivers work without a cabinet and reproduce impulses without colouration.

Large diaphragm area

Over 3,200 cm² of bass area per side. The diaphragms move little and stay within their linear range.

Controlled bass dispersion

The bass is designed to barely excite room resonances.

Carbon composite

All diaphragms are coated by hand with Maestro lacquer and carbon composite. The natural resin lacquer guides the diaphragm's own resonances instead of damping them. The sound stays consistent from bass to treble.

Simple crossover

Carefully chosen drivers allow a lean crossover with few high-quality components.

A horn loudspeaker for the living room

The Topline Bob M brings the concept of the Topline Bob L to a smaller footprint. At 1.26 metres tall, the horn sits at ear height when you are seated. The trapezoidal shape keeps the loudspeaker narrow from the front, so it fits quietly into the room.

Placement and tuning

The active bass is adapted to your room via DSP. You tune the bass to the listening room instead of changing the room around the loudspeaker. The bass dispersion is designed to excite room resonances as little as possible.

The right electronics

Because the bass brings its own amplifier, your electronics only need to drive the range above the bass. Valve, hybrid or transistor: amplifiers from 30 watts are sufficient.

All diaphragms are treated with carbon composite so that the tonal character stays consistent from the bass to the treble. For the crossover we choose a small number of carefully selected components and pay attention to linear phase and clean transient response. We finish cabinet and horn in the colour of your choice.

How does the Bob M differ from the Bob L?

Both follow the same principle of horn, open baffle and active bass. The Bob M is built slimmer, with a smaller horn, four 8-inch lower midrange drivers and eight 10-inch bass drivers per loudspeaker. The Bob L uses a larger horn, three 10-inch lower midrange drivers and six 12-inch bass drivers and is designed for medium-sized rooms with a listening distance of up to three metres.

Which amplifier do I need for the Bob M?

The bass has its own DSP-controlled amplifier. Your electronics only power the passive section from around 55 Hz. Valve, hybrid or transistor amplifiers from 30 watts are sufficient. So you can choose your amplifier by sound, not by power.

Doesn't a horn sound harsh?

Many horn loudspeakers are designed for high efficiency, which often sounds clear but thin. In the Bob M, the horn serves to couple the driver to the air. We do not use compression drivers and have matched horn and driver to each other. The result is a calm, full tone without the typical horn sound.
