“Don’t bother with that. “The Perfect Interface” produced an increased transparency, blacker backgrounds but especially transient precision that was easy to hear don’t ask me why that should be but it was easily audible.”

Analog Planet - Michael Fremer

“How a piece of varnished Japanese paper can consistently improve the sound of a vinyl record riding atop it is beyond me. All I can tell you is that it does—that the very thing that makes many LPs sound like LPs, like mosaics made of individually recorded bits and pieces, is replaced by something that makes those bits and pieces seem more like interrelated parts of a sonic whole.“

The Absolute Sound - Jonathan Valin

” I stood there thinking, “Huh! Really?” I had been expecting an effect that was quite subtle; instead, a certain openness and rich organic sound caught my ear. LP after LP, I was quietly pleased at the result. It didn’t seem to matter what genre of music; the Perfect Interface wrought a real step forward.”

David W. Robinson - Positive Feedback

HANDMADE PAPER

The base is Japanese paper from the paper mulberry tree, made by hand and dried on wood.

FOR EVERY PLATTER

It works with platters made of metal, acrylic, wood and combinations of these.

MADE IN MÜLHEIM

Every mat is made by hand in our manufactory, which makes each one unique.

A turntable mat that does not dampen

Resonance control instead of damping

The Perfect Interface does not take energy out of the music. The paper, impregnated with Maestro lacquer made from natural resins, controls the resonances between record and platter without holding the sound back. What you hear is an open, organic sound with precise timing and fine detail.

The Carbon Signature

A carbon layer for more finesse

Compared with the Signature, this version carries a carbon layer on the underside. It adds finesse and shows its effect even on platters that are usually played without a mat.

How to use it

Place the Perfect Interface directly on the platter, label side up. It is designed to be used without any further underlay and works with platters made of metal, acrylic, wood and combinations of these materials.

Made by hand in Japan and Mülheim

The paper from the paper mulberry tree is traditionally made by hand in Japan and dried on wood. In our manufactory in Mülheim an der Ruhr we cut it to shape and impregnate it with SteinMusic Maestro lacquer made from natural resins. Because every mat is made by hand, each one looks a little different.

Signature or Carbon Signature

The Perfect Interface Signature is the base version. The Carbon Signature adds a carbon layer on the underside and brings even more finesse.

Goes well with

A mat can only sound as good as the cartridge is aligned. The Achat 1 alignment protractor helps you set it up. For the next step at the tonearm: the Ametrin 1 Composite headshell.
