The SteinMusic H2 Neo, together with SteinMusic Stones, Diamonds and Suns, forms a highly effective system for optimizing room acoustics.

The H2 Neo is an active “Harmonizer” designed to reduce the influence of the listening room—so that timing, spatial cues, tonal colors and the finest details reach you with greater clarity and naturalness. It doesn’t change the recording; it improves the conditions under which music is perceived in the room.

Because the underlying principle cannot be “proven” in just a few technical sentences, we use a simple image:

Sound is carried through air. To set air in motion from a resting state takes energy at first—once it’s “in flow,” even the smallest changes can be transmitted more easily. The H2 Neo supports this process on a very subtle level: it doesn’t move the air mechanically, but instead creates conditions in the room that make the transmission of the smallest musical events easier and more stable.

First use & operation
Power supply

The H2 Neo is powered by batteries located in the battery compartment on the underside of the unit. Please ensure correct polarity when inserting the batteries.

On / Off

Switch the H2 Neo on using the main power switch.
(For A/B comparisons, see the FAQ.)

Adjusting intensity – with display

The H2 Neo is more compact than previous versions and allows precise intensity adjustment, shown on the display.

  • Set the intensity using the control dial.

  • The display shows the current value, allowing you to reproduce and compare settings reliably.

  • Start with a moderate intensity (roughly comparable to the former “9–10 o’clock” recommendation) and fine-tune in small steps.

Tip: Small adjustments can be clearly audible. Give each change a few minutes before deciding.

Room size & number of H2 Neo units

The effect does not primarily depend on room size.

  • Basic setup: 1–3 pairs of H2 Neo

  • Most common: 2 pairs

  • You can start with one pair and expand at any time later.

Even a single pair can noticeably improve large rooms; multiple pairs typically increase stability, naturalness, and the overall “ease” of the presentation.

Placement

Basic principle

Place H2 Neo A and H2 Neo B on two adjacent sides of the room according to the sketch in your manual.

  • If you are using only one pair, start at the wall behind the loudspeakers.

  • Closer together: more focus / definition

  • Wider apart: larger soundstage / more openness

  • The front of the units should face into the room (towards the area between speakers and listening position).

Stands

We recommend the dedicated stands developed for the H2 (proven reference: approx. 1 m height) to simplify placement and make results repeatable.

Stones, Diamonds, Suns

Black Stones, Blue Suns and Diamonds are essential parts of the H2 Neo system. Please mount them as shown in the sketch and in the separate instructions. Position and orientation have a clear influence on the overall effect.

FAQ

How many H2 Neo units do I need?

The number is not primarily determined by room size. One pair is an excellent starting point; multiple pairs typically increase stability, spatial performance, and naturalness.

What do the individual products do?
  • Blue Suns (side walls): open up the soundstage; the sound becomes less “speaker-bound.”

  • Blue Sun (behind the speakers): adds depth; height influences the vertical perspective.

  • Blue Sun (behind the listening position): opens up the space in front of the speakers.

  • Blue Sun (ceiling): significantly enhances the spatial projection.

  • Blue Diamonds: a subtler effect; refine Blue Suns or work more gently on their own.

  • Black Stones (room corners): “ground” the soundstage, improving proportions and overall stability.

How should I start with intensity?

Start moderately and fine-tune:

  • If it feels too “bright” / too forward: reduce intensity slightly.

  • If it feels flatter or less tangible: increase intensity slightly.
Thanks to the display, you can track and repeat A/B settings precisely.

How long does it take until the effect is evenly distributed?

After switching on, allow about 20 minutes to reach full efficiency. After a few days, the effect may become even more homogeneous. Recommendation: leave it switched on continuously.

How do I do a real A/B comparison?

When switched off, the effect fades gradually (around 20 minutes). For an immediate comparison, take the units out of the room.

Can I place it behind a curtain or on a shelf?

Yes — behind a curtain, on a shelf, or even in a cabinet is usually no problem.

Electronic room correction?

Works very well — please re-measure / re-calibrate after installation.
